Why are Americans not held to the same standard?

Whenever the IDF causes collateral damage and regrettably kills civilians, I hear everyone screaming for war criminal tribunials. Yet those people remain silent when actual war crimes cone to light like the recent US kill team photos, where they hacked off a piece of a mans skull.
