You can't just buy a German Shepherd and expect it to protect you, it won't. You need to get a working line German Shepherd from European lines. It seems you don't have time to train one, so you need to buy an adult dog. A fully trained adult dog of any breed, is going to run $7,000-$7,500. You can get a dog with protection sport titles for $3,000, but these are SPORT trained dogs, they need 2 months or more of real life training to be ready for real life work. So the real question is, are you willing to pay $7,000+ for a guard/protection dog? If you are, somebody can train it to suit any needs you have.
